Types Of Softball Instruction

 

Hitting- Our hitting instruction covers all aspects of hitting.  We teach the proper and necessary hitting mechanics including: how to swing a bat and hit a softball, and how to hit different types of pitches in different locations.  We develop the hand-eye coordination, balance, bat-speed, strength and reaction skills used when hitting.  We also train the mental side of hitting including: hitting in different situations and counts, and learning to develop a plan and approach at the plate. This training is designed to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become a better hitter. 

 

 

Fastpitch Pitching- Our pitching instruction covers all aspects of pitching and the position of a pitcher.  We teach the proper and necessary pitching mechanics including: how to throw different types of pitches (Fastball, Change-Up, Curveball, Screwball, Drop-Ball, Rise-Ball), how to throw to different locations, and fielding the position.  We develop the coordination, balance, flexibility and strength used when pitching.  All of our pitching training includes some core training.  We also train the mental side of pitching including: how to act on the mound, what to throw and when to throw it. We also teach how to properly warm up, care, stretch, and strengthen your arm.  This training is designed to maximize your accuracy and velocity, decreasing the risk of injury, and obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become a better pitcher. 

 

 

Catching- Our catching instruction covers all aspects of catching and the position of a catcher.  We teach the proper and necessary mechanics and footwork for catching, focusing in depth on the three main areas: receiving, blocking, and throwing.  We also cover fielding bunts, pop-ups, and plays at the plate.  We develop hand-eye coordination, footwork, reaction skills, flexibility, quickness, and strength used when catching.  We also train the mental side of catching including: how to call pitches, handle pitchers, and control the game.  This training is designed to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become a better catcher.                                                                                          

 

 

Throwing- Our throwing instructions teaches or improves on the proper and necessary mechanics to throw a softball.  This training is designed to maximize your accuracy and velocity while decreasing the risk of injury.  We develop the coordination, balance, flexibility and strength used when throwing.  We teach how to properly care, warm up, stretch, and strengthen your arm.  We can also create an individualized throwing program to you and your position, in order to reach or exceed your goals and throwing potential.  This training is designed to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become better at throwing.          

 

This training is very beneficial for players of all ages, but especially for the younger players just starting out.  The earlier they can learn a healthy throwing motion and avoid developing bad habits, the better the chances of having a healthier and longer career. 

 

 

Infield and Outfield- Our infield and outfield instruction teaches the proper and necessary mechanics and mindset needed to play any specific position on the field.  We develop the coordination, footwork, reaction skills, quickness, and strength used at any position.  This training is designed to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become a better infielder or outfielder.

 

-For Infielders we teach the proper mechanics and footwork for fielding groundballs and catching pop-ups, throwing to all bases, force and tag plays, and proper positioning.  We also cover the mental side of how to think, act, and react in different situations.

 

-For Outfielders we teach the proper mechanics and footwork for fielding groundballs, catching line drives and fly-balls, throwing to all bases, playing the wall, and proper positioning.  We also cover the mental side of how to think, act, and react in different situations.

 

 

Bunting- Our bunting instruction covers the necessary mechanics to execute all types of bunting including: sacrifice bunt, drag bunt, push bunt, and slap hitting.  We teach not only how to use these skills but when to use them in order to maximize success.  This training is designed to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to have a strong short game, and an improved short game raises the value of any player. 

 

 

Base Running- Our base running training covers all areas of running the bases.  We teach the proper mechanics of running in general, getting out of the batters box and down the first base line, how to round the bases, stealing, tagging up on a fly-ball, and sliding.  This training is designed to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to become a better overall base-runner, and a good base-runner is a much more valuable player.

Ways Of Training

 

Individual Lessons- Individual Lessons are the most productive and beneficial type of training.  It is in a one on one environment, which has been proven to be very effective. Our Individual Lessons are 30min or 1hour sessions depending on the age and level of the player, type of instruction, and/or the individual’s situation (financial, location, etc.) 

 

Combination Individual Lessons- individual lessons that combine 2 or more types of training (example: 30min hitting and 30min catching or pitching and hitting)

 

Group/Team Lessons- consists of training 2 or more players at the same time. The training content, approach, and methods are the same, but it is not one on one.  It is still very productive, beneficial, and effective.  The cost and length of a session depends on the size of the group or team and type of instruction.  SEE CAMPS FOR MORE INFORMATION.
